Left home at about 13:15 with Dad and Joseph and walked to Tooting station where we got the train to Wimbledon and then changed trains to get to Leatherhead. Got to the station and walked 10 mins to the ground and got there just after 14:30. Sat in the stand along the touchline. First impressions of the ground weren't great given the high praise I heard already heard about it. The game itself was a very dull affair with hardly any action all 1st half. Leatherhead had a few shots but none that stuck in my memory. Staines got down the channels and in behind a couple of times but nothing coming about from it. Leatherhead took the lead on the stroke of HT after their best player of the game, Nana, broke away and smashed the ball on from the right hand side of the penalty area to give Leatherhead a 1-0 lead at HT. First 10 mins of the 2nd half was better than the whole game as both sides came out with a bit of intent but the game died again after Staines went down to 10 men after a 2nd yellow card for one of their players. Leatherhead extended their lead on 60 mins after decent football around the box which found its way to their number 11 who smashed it in from the left hand side of the box. Leatherhead had about one more chance from memory which was a shot from distance which went just over the bar. In the end a forgettable game with virtual no chances to memory. Walked back to the station and got the train back to Wimbledon to change to get to Tooting. Got back home at about 18:20.
