The atmosphere for this game was far more relaxed and friendly than the tense league game against Stoke two days prior. Complacence resulting from that lack of tension was probably the main reason behind a strong Norwich XI's comprehensive defeat by the Dons here, a side they really should have had the quality to beat. Daniel Ayala's first start for the Canaries was abysmal, and the game was so error-strewn that by half-time Richard and I could not take the occasion seriously. While I was disappointed a cup run was thrown away so cheaply, we agreed the result would have little to no consequence on the next game against Chelsea, or indeed the rest of the year. The PL this season had to be the priority.
