Where to start? A long term ambition achieved having missed the last opportunity to see Tranmere play a friendly in Scotland some twenty three years ago which in itself had spanned a further gap of 20 years since playing Dumbarton in 1975. Unfortunetley the fixture clashed with Englands World cup Quarter final clash against Sweden which saw some late drop-outs from the trip and I believe another twenty plus that stayed in a local pub near the ground instead of watching ''the'' Big game, still 203 loyal Tranmere fans enjoyed both results. The result probably flattered rovers as despite numerous corners the home side struggled to test the visiting keeper whilst Tranmere scored with virtually their first shot on target on 41 minutes after a great through ball from Norwood gave Cole the chance to lob the keeper. The second half started with three subs and Tranmere looking a lot brighter followed by around eight more changes 15 minutes later. Trialist Soukouna added a good second, walker-rice another cracker before long headed home in bizarre fashion from a corner with the keeper catching the ball but the power? sending him and the ball over the line. Enjoyed a meal with friends before returning to our accommodation in Edinburgh. Unfortunatley the heat prevented good nights sleep but we got a second game in on the Sunday before returning home. The £2 programme was a double header with their upcoming friendly against Motherwell(ironically the last Scottish team to visit prenton park) It was a poster prog which well folded out consisted of a fixture calender on one side{8 segments) two on Tranmere, two on Motherwell, two adverts a welcome from the chairman and the cover.
