Went with James and left Chester at about 17:00 and walked to the station. Got the 17:35 train to Crewe and changed at Crewe going to Wolverhampton. Got to Wolverhampton at about 18:40 and went in the spoons for a pint where we met his Dad who came to the game as well. Left the pub at about 19:15 and walked about 5 mins to the ground. The ground itself is an impressive one from the outside and the inside. Sat in the upper tier of the Steve Bull stand. The game itself was a very entertaining one with Wolves taking the lead in the first minute after pinball in the penalty box before Doherty tapped it home from about six yards. The game was a very open one with Wolves having most of the play given they are two divisions above Shrewsbury but about 10 mins in, they got their first corner of the game and scored from a glancing header which made it 1-1. The game continued to be an open one with both sides having chances with Wolves missing a few that should've hit the back of the net. On 40 mins, one of the Shrewsbury midfielders hit a speculative shot from about 30 yards out which Ruddy made a mess of in goal letting it go underneath him and into the net to make it 1-2 to Shrewsbury. Wolves then had a few chances before equalising with the last kick of the half again from Doherty who picked up on a lose ball in the Shrewsbury box to smash it into the net making it 2-2 at HT. The second half was just as entertaining of a game with Wolves pretty much dominating and took the lead around 60 mins in through some good individual play from Cavaleiro, dribbling through before slotting it past the keeper. Wolves then became slack in their play and allowed Shrewsbury to have more of the ball and create chances which on another day they might have taken but in the end Wolves won it 3-2. After the game walked back to the station with James and got the 22:15 train back to Chester changing at Stafford and Crewe. Got back home at about 00:15.
