An easy ''get to'' via St Pancras and Ebbsfleet International then a 10 minutes walk. First game of the year without needing a hat and gloves. But I did by half time.
The ground has a very nice new stand with hospitality lounge above but the rest is proper old school with old cow-shed seating and terraces with pre-fab buildings behind for bar and facilities. The crowd was proper old school too. And old school docklands. Not many teeth between them and IQ scores even lower than the tooth count. Not friendly either.
The match was the most brutal game of footy I have seen for many many years. Four red cards before the end and the only surprise was that they came so late. Could easily have had 2 or 3 odd in the first half. Solihull were good value for the win and should have had more. Considering how dreadful they were when i saw them early season they now look the real deal and well deserving of their push for promotion. As for Ebbsfleet, they look very ordinary. But their goalkeeper was an amazing monster who looked more like a Samoan rugby player. Made 2 outstanding saves too.
I was really cold by the end so i wasn''t at all sad to have to leave a few minutes early to catch my train home.
