Every cloud as they say....A failed lunchtime pitch inspection at Tranmere gifted me the chance to take this game in as it had been on my radar due to it''s relevance. Having played in the English leagues for 35 years bay had reluctantly decided to join the Welsh pyramid from next season due to finances but the incessant rain had me doubting if this game would be played either as I drove down the A55. The game was on but bad weather threatened the turnout, none the less the admission price had been halved to a fiver and after buying a steak pie and chips for £4 a programme for £2 and two old match worn away shirts for a pound each I felt I hadn''t burned a hole in my pocket. I don''t know about Leek town but the skies where still leaking but the pitch held up well to be fair with only a few puddles in evidence. The away side going for the play offs started strongly and nearly went ahead in the opening minutes and would finish the game strongly as well with bay having their best spell in the twenty minutes after the break, both sides hit the woodwork and leek had a goal ruled out for offside but got a deserved 89th minute winner despite missing a couple of glorious chances near the end a goalkeeping error gifted the goal when the keeper failed to tip a shot over the bar and trickett-smith poked home from close range. Former Tranmere u18 player Ethan Devine played well as a wing back for the hosts.
