Comments :
National League Play-Off Semi Final. Solihull Moors had finished 2nd in the league to Leyton Orient. With only one team being promoted automatically, Moors had to play 5th placed AFC Fylde for a place at Wembley in the Play Off Final. Philliskirk scored in the 2nd minute with a wonder strike, albeit following a foul on Moors'' Storer. The 2nd half was one way traffic with Fylde just hacking the ball away, and Moors having several shots just go past the Fylde post. In the last minute a Jamie Osbourne free kick beat the wall, and the keeper, but hit the post and Moors'' season was over, even though they had amassed 86 points from 46 games, five more than Fylde, and only three less than Orient. Moors'' home ticket allocation was entirely sold out before matchday, but Fylde only sold about two thirds of theirs. This was the 16th Solihull Moors match I had attended in this remarkable season which had started with them being the bookies'' 2nd favourites for relegation. Is this to be Moors'' high water mark? Will they ever come this close again to achieving promotion to the Football League?
