Match no. 1372. My 79th game at Wodson Park but the first for 3 years. A good win for Ware versus a team one level above them in the pyramid. Ware scored within the first minute and made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time when Thomas Bruno spotted the Leiston goalie off his line and lobbed him from inside his own half. Leiston briefly rallied and made it 2-1 with 20 minutes to go but Ware then confirmed their superiority with 3 more goals. This was only the third time I''d seen a game on 7th September. The first was 28 years ago in 1991 - Match no. 722 - Enfield 0-0 Staines Town at Southbury Road, another fine old ground that no longer exists.
