Football can have a lot of irony and coincidence. I had only seen saints play once before twenty years ago in the wettest game I''ve attended and that''s not said lightly but it was due to Tranmere''s game against Doncaster falling to a waterlogged pitch that enabled me to see this bonus game. This fixture was one i had tried attending a few seasons ago one Wednesday evening taking time off work and booking accommodation only for my plans to be scuppered as a postponed cup tie took precedence and the game was rescheduled. Former rovers keeper Owain fon Williams was in goal for Hamilton with former rovers loanee Michael O''Halloran an unused sub for saints. Off the field I met saints fan Kevin and his daughter and mate who were members of tartan Tranmere a rovers supporters group from North of the border. A long day but an enjoyable one.
