Comments :
With corona virus sweeping the world I decided to head to Yorkshire and New Pudsey. And easy 3 trains via Manchester and Leeds and an easy 15 minutes walk and I was there. So easy that I arrived 2 hours before kick off. The ground is somewhere between bleak and grim: one aged stand, one aged covered terrace and the rest open to the elements. And with so much space around it looked and felt even more scruffy and desolate. The clubhouse the same: bare and cold. But luckily most of the people were friendly enough. I said the the lad behind the bar, The government suggested we stay away from crowds, which is why I chose to come here. he didn''t laugh. Then came the game. Utterly dire. Like under-12''s football but attempted by clumsy men. Not helped by a strong wind blowing direct down the middle of the pitch but still awful. I took absolutely no encouragement to leave before the end to catch an early train home. It felt like a long way but luckily the last leg I was sat opposite a very pleasant woman and we chatted travel the whole way back to Whitchurch. Then home, a quick bite and drink before early to bed to complete a thoroughly unmemorable day. But it was another one ticked off. I just hope I never have the reason to go back there again.
