Great day out that nearly wasn''t. Originally looked at Lancaster city but appeared to be sold out either that or a complicated web instruction. Matlock was next on the radar until i did my research on this ground even then when i came to pre purchase my ticket it said the game was sold out but then i got a second message and luckily the purchase went through. The ground has lots of character set around rolling hills, the club officials were great and i bumped into another Tranmere fan who works for when Saturday comes. This would be Mossley''s tenth consecutive win including friendlies, they took the lead in the eighth minute when a cross was headed on towards the back post then headed over the keeper and in off a defender on the line but Pickering equalised after a free kick found a player in the box who volleyed into the roof of the net. The home side were unfortunate not to be awarded a second goal when a shot hit the bar and appeared to bounce over the line and back out it looked clear cut even from distance but wasn''t awarded. A second did come before the break when a cross from the left was tapped in on the line HT 2-1. Second half it became three when a corner was headed home at the near post and a fourth with another left wing cross clinically headed home. Really nice to see a quality programme which begs the question why so many clubs including many in the league are going online blaming spiralling costs and poor sales without looking for viable solutions like reducing the print run or number of pages. Two negative''s from the day despite getting in an hour before kick off and finding a good speck on a barrier it didn''t stop the locals ignoring social distancing. Could they tell i was from the exotic region of the Wirral peninsula? Was it the lynx effect? or did they want to surround me like flies around the proverbial? who knows but as kick off approached around a dozen middle aged men and women surrounded me and forced me to move but no matter were i went their was someone always wanting to get up close and personal. This was my 8th game since the reintroduction but the first that i''ve felt at risk, on a lighter note my joy at buying a half price steak pie at full time was tempered when i discovered it had kidney in it and ended up being chucked none the less an enjoyable day.
