Just like the weather this game was a damp squib. Arrived early had my temperature checked my print at home ticket had become too soggy to scan at the gate so had to pull the email up to scan the QR code on the £12 ticket including £2 booking fee, the programme was an online download for £2.50 with the pleasing thing that you could print it off at home unfortunately i couldn''t get it into an editing suit to enable me to print it as a normal programme but something was better than nothing.. The main stand was reserved for blue badge holders, players and staff but as i was one of the first in i was allowed to take some pictures of the tunnel which was themed on the mining history of the town with replica lamps which could be turned on whilst the walls and ceiling had been painted to look like a mine, not on the grand scale of Shalke maybe but a decent effort none the less. The covered terraces where quite expansive and the club had painted yellow spots on the floor to indicate where your bubble could stand, on the whole this was respected although their where a minority not clever enough or just ignorant enough to ignore and it was quite worrying to see a large crowd gather in close proximity behind the goal for the penalty shootout. The game presented a number of chances including four or five free kicks on the edge of the box which all bar one flew very high, the keepers were quiet with the shots saved largely being hit straight at them. The ground is decent and the owners that came in three months ago seem decent and clued up so they just need the team to perform and hopefully they will get to play at a higher level. One penalty miss was enough to see the visitors though 5-3 in the shootout.
