Comments :
Basford set their stall out early with a fine shot tipped over for a corner with their first effort. I was routing for the home side with former Tranmere player Jean Louis Akpa Akpro starting up front and new mid week signing Larnell Cole(another ex rover) on the bench but an early free kick from 20yards caught the home keeper sleeping expecting a cross rather than the audacious shot. The visitors looked sharper in front of goal although they failed to add to the scoresheet in the first half a second was added in controversial fashion midway through the second half when one Basford player seemed to impede the home defender enabling his colleague to go through on goal and rifle a shot into the roof of the net. Shortly after another debutant for Radcliffe gave away a soft penalty which appeared to put the game to bed. The introduction of Cole however woke the home side up and he still looked a quality player as he was at the heart of numerous attacks and some dangerous crosses that should have reaped a couple of consolation goals as Basford either took their foot of the gas or Radcliffe finally woke up.
