Dom, Chris and Craig headed on the long trip to the Eastern Bloc.  An afternoon coach trip from Brum to Heathrow started the journey and the merriment began!   Some nosh and beers in the Wetherspoon set us up for the flight, which lasted just over 2 hours.  We landed in Bulgaria in the early hours.  Jac''s Grandad Mike and his missus Maya was there to meet us and kindly popped us in a taxi to ensure that we didn''t get ripped off.  When we arrived at the hotel tired and weary the arsehole hotel assistant wouldn''t entertain the idea of letting us check in early - schmuck.    After some relunctant snoozing in the hotel lobby we ventured out into the cold Sofia morning for a walk round.  A disgusting Big Mac and chips (with enough salt on to kill a colony of ants) was the best we could find for our breakfast - nicely washed down with a can of Heineken for myself.    At 12 we walked to the cathedral square where our coach was going to be and went to a nearby bar to wait.  We stocked up with some big cheap bottles of Carlsberg for journey and boarded the coach where we met Fitchy.  We had a long 2 and a half hour journey to Lovech on which we drove through some nice countryside.  However the beers had taken there toll and the majority of the coach (including the 2 ladies) were bostin'' for a piss.  The coach driver took an age to pull over and when he finally did the gasp of relief could be heard back in Brum!   We reached the small town of Lovech - a choice between 3 bars became apparent.  We headed for the closest one where the Villa boys and flags were in wait.  Cheap lager flowed (80p - £1 per beer!) and unsurprisingly the Villa drank it dry.    This is where my memory becomes hazy.   We headed to the ground and entered the stadiums surroundings.  We went for a piss in a shed that was so grotty I would not keep cows in it.     The match itself was unexciting however after a underpar first half a 3-1 win for the Villa satisfied us with Stan Petrov scoring on his home turf.  A Barry penalty and a Reo-Coker tap in contributed to the win.   300 Villa fans enjoyed the day, many pissed out of their tree including myself who fell over a number of times (available for viewing on You Tube).  After the match we had time for another drink - the coach then transported back 40 fansto Sofia clearly worse for the wear.   Good times.
