Match no. 1293. Canvey Island won 7-6 on penalties. After losing their FA Cup replay 3-0 to Kidderminster Harriers, Ware picked up the baton in the FA Trophy. An entertaining second half saw Canvey Island twice take the lead and Ware twice equalise. After 90 minutes the tie went straight to penalties. Ware''s goalie saved the first two kicks and Ware were in a strong position at 2-0 ahead but they failed to take advantage. In the end it went to 10 kicks each with the Ware goalie saving three. But his opposite number saved four and then converted the decisive kick himself! 50 years ago today: Match no. 228 - West Ham 1-1 Leicester.
