Went to visit what is rated as one of the best grounds in non-league football. Got the train from Sutton station at about 12:20 and had to get off at Tooting station because of a red signal delaying the train. Got the the bus from Tooting station to the tube and then got on the underground from Tooting Broadway to Finsbury Park before getting the train to Hitchin. Got to the ground at about 14:30. A great ground with a lot of character and a lovely open terrace behind one of the goals. The game itself was a very entertaining one as well with Hitchin having the best of the first half and missed numerous chances and hit the bar multiple times. They eventually took the lead through a clever corner routine that looped into the back of the net to give them a 1-0 lead after about 40 mins. Just before HT Hednesford had a chance to get back into the game from the penalty spot though which was saved well from the Hitchin keeper. The second half was just as entertaining and Hednesford turned the game on its head on the hour mark with two goals in a minute that knocked the stuffing out of Hitchin. They never really recovered from that but did hit the bar towards the end of the game. With about 80 mins left on the clock the linesman went down injured and they put an announcement over the tannoy asking if anybody could run the line. Thankfully someone stepped forward which meant that there was twelve minutes of stoppage time but Hitchin couldn't get an equaliser. Got the train back from Hitchin to Blackfriars and then got the train to Streatham getting the bus home. Got back at about 19:00.
