Distracted by other fixtures i was lucky to get one of the last three for this one, in the front row behind the goal i was concerned it may be too low for a good view but it turned out alright. Grimsby opened strongly and had a goal disallowed before Wrexham took the lead through a soft penalty fired in off the underside of the bar by Mullin. A sublime equaliser virtually from the restart by McAtee after cutting in from the left he fired into the top left corner from outside the box was a prelude to 15 minutes of pressure from the hosts and a harshly disallowed goal. Ht 1-1, once more Grimsby started the second half fired up and a Waterfall header put them ahead. Two goals in two minutes(Mullin and Tozer) saw the see saw game continue(Mullins appeared to be with his hand). A brace for the Mariners Taylor 72, Dieseruvwe 78 turned the tables once more but Davies levelled on 80 to take the game to extra time. Penalties seemed destined to be the only way to settle the tie but in the last minute of added time Waterfall headed home his second and the winning goal. Five of the nine goals scored by ex Tranmere players. Great entertainment.
