Comments :
Tranmere''s game postponed, i eagerly looked for a replacement unfortunately the weather scuppered entire league structures up and down the country and their were less than a handful of options. I considered QoS in Scotland it wouldn''t be a new ground but i had not seen Kelty as an away team. Stockport Town seemed favourite and in hindsight eight goals in a 6-2 win suggests i should have gone there but Worksop won out having seen a preview of their programme which looked decent enough plus it was a first v second game. Worksop had won all nine home games and only lost once on the opening day away at todays visitors, Stockton on the other hand had only lost once away but lay eight points behind. Unfortunately the game didn''t live up to it''s billing and my phone died long before kick off bringing a premature end to my ground snaps. The only save of the first half was a header tipped over from a corner routine by top scorer Hughes. The second half started in similar fashion with Stockton forcing their only save from the home keeper after a scramble from another corner. The last half hour changed though with the award of a penalty after the home 14 avoided a synicle tackle and ran into the box with pace only to be felled. With 15 league goals to his name so far you would have put your house on Hughes scoring but his powerful shot was straight down the middle and too close to the keeper. Not to be denied he would go on to score the winning goal finding himself unmarked for once just inside the box he fired home first time into the top left corner from a pass. Thereafter they did force the away keeper into a couple of saves before the end. Former Tranmere trainee Terry Hawkridge was probably my man of the match having had a decent game.
