Match Summary (Thursday July 14, 2011 19:30) Bristol Rovers McGleish (pen, 26), McLaggon (72) Inverness Caledonian Thistle Ross (50 & 80) Attendance 841 Rovers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle shared four goals in a highly entertaining and competitive friendly fixture at Twerton Park tonight. The Scottish Premier League side twice came from behind to earn a deserved draw. Scott McGleish gave Rovers a first half lead from the penalty spot, while Nick Ross equalised early in the second half. Kayne McLaggon scored his first Rovers goal to restore the lead, but Ross scored his, and Caley''s, second goal of the night to restore parity. It was Rovers'' toughest pre season game to date and a good workout ahead of next Tuesday''s game against Burnley. After a tentative opening, Rovers made a quick break, or rather Mustapha Carayol did. Gaining possession on the halfway line he glided past his marker and got to the edge of the box before crossing only to see keeper Jonny Tuffey gather safely. However the visitors, who won at Yeovil on Tuesday and face Aldershot on Saturday, quickly hit back and a run by Ritchie Foran was thwarted by Scott Bevan and a Greg Tansey shot was blocked at the expense of a corner. Foran again caused problems at the back on twenty minutes, when his header back across goal headed over his own bar by Adam Virgo. At the other end Carayol blasted a free kick over the bar and out of the ground. Rovers took the lead on 26 minutes from the penalty spot, courtesy of Scott McGleish. The spot kick was awarded after Carayol beat two Caley players with consummate ease on his way into the penalty area where he was felled by Ross Tokely. McGleish opted for power from 12 yards, blasting his effort straight down the middle while Tuffey dived to his right. There was a let off for Rovers three minutes before the break when Tom Aldred''s ball over the top saw Foran race clear. With no one around him though, he lifted the ball over Bevan who had rushed out of goal in an attempt to clear, and the bar as well. Rovers made eight changes at the break, but the SPL side scored an equaliser five minutes after the break when Nick Ross beat Cian Bolger to the ball and headed past Lance Cronin. Rovers went close when Matt Harrold cut in from the left and teed the ball up for Kayne McLaggon who fired a shot straight at Tuffey. Rovers restored their lead on 72 minutes when Harrold''s glancing header found McLaggon who evaded a challenge from David Proctor and beat Tuffey with a clever chip shot from the edge of the area. The goalscorer almost added his second goal of the night shortly afterwards, when he cut in from the left but rolled a shot just wide of the upright. The hard working Caley side scored a second equaliser on 80 minutes when Jonny Hayes did well to get to the byeline and cross into the area wher Ross knocked the ball in from close range.
