Bass Charity Vase and The Brewers run out easy winners.
A tremendous day out to start the new season. Heavy rain and later thunder and lightning but great fun.
Amazing, excellent, superb lunch in The Burnt Gate at Anslow. Full vegetarian and lactose free menus to choose from. Fish and chips followed by treacle tart and ice-cream for me and grilled halloumi salad followed by macaroon and ice-cream for Chazzwagger. All washed down with a single beer and coffee to finish. We waddled out to the car for the 10 minutes drive to the Pirelli.
Before KO I managed to have my photo taken with mascot Bettie Brewer (lurvelee).
It''s an okay modern stadium. Low and mostly bare block-work showing but clean and functional. the rain stayed off for most of a pretty good game. Both teams full of enormous athletic blokes. Only trouble is that most of them couldn''t trap a bag of cement. But it was enjoyable and reasonably exciting (especially so given it was a pre-season friendly) and a few good goals.
I suggested to C that one guy (Lucas Akins) had perhaps learnt to play football from a book. 2 minutes later he smashed in a brilliant goal. Dohh!!
Lots more laughs along the way (can''t remember any of it) and a really easy drive home.
Brilliant day out.
