What a day. Had decided to do a conferance South game. Two had stood out with Farnbourgh being favourites however i woke up to the news of a 9AM pitch inspection, no such issues at second choice Hungerford with the only post on their twitter feed advertising the four for 20 deal(ticket, programme meal deal and a pint for £20). Left at 7.30 Am stopping at Frankly services for any change. News came through that a waterlogged pitch had claimed the Farnbourgh game which was tempered by no other posts from Hungerford so salivating over their match deal i arrived at 11am only to find the gates locked and the ground deserted. Ten minutes later the twitter feed was changed to say their game had also failed a pitch inspection Aargh!! I thought about a two hour drive South to Taunton however being a responsible club they posted pitch inspections where to be held at 12.30 and 1pm so i couldn''t take the risk. Instead i settled on Kettering, still a two hour drive but in roughly the right direction and being one of three conference North grounds not seen play a home fixture. Games are always better as a double header and i had never seen Worthing or Bath as away teams the visitors to the two postponed games where as i has seen Scarbourgh in their promotion season at Buxton.
