scorer Daryl Duffy LB07 MATCH REPORT Posted on: Sat 26 Jul 2008 Rovers recorded a 1-0 win against LB07 in the final match of their Scandinavian tour. The goal came courtesy of a stunning strike from Darryl Duffy, but this win was all about team work and determination as Paul Trollope's side passed the ball around well, were strong in the tackle and defended resolutely and behind an impressive back line goalkeeper Steve Phillips looked to be back to his best. The real worry for Rovers was the loss of Joe Jacobson, just after the break. He was stretchered off with a leg injury, but it appears that he hasn't suffered a break although it's possible there may be some ligament damage. Rovers began the final match of their tour on the hottest day of the week here in Sweden. Paul Trollope fielded what is probably close to his strongest lineup and his side wore their new home kit for the first time. The first opportunity of the game fell to the home side, when Daniel Sliper hit a fierce shot from some 25 yards out, but Steve Phillips, diving to his left, did well to touch the ball round the post. Rovers were quick to settle, though, and began passing the ball around well against a side with a number of players with both skill and pace. Jeff Hughes had Rovers first chance, on 14 minutes, when his shot from the edge of the area drifted wide of the target. Almost immediately the home side broke and Erol Bekir was well wide with his long range effort. Stuart Campbell's shot was comfortably saved by Ola Svenson, and Rovers were unlucky not to make the breakthrough on 25 minutes when Hughes threaded the ball through to Darryl Duffy but the striker was beaten to the ball by Svensson, who raced off his line to clear. They took a deserved lead on the half hour, when Duffy picked the ball out on the left and curled a shot into the top corner from 25 yards out. It was a stunning strike and Svensson was lerft clawing at thin air as he made a desperate attempt to keep the shot out. Rovers lost Joe Jacobson within a minute of the restart, when he was felled by a crude challenge from berhind by Chris Loftus, who was booked for his efforts. After a lengthy spell of treatment, the Welsh U-21 skipper was stretchered off with his left leg in a splint. Stuart Campbell picked up a yellow card when play restarted, for a challenge on Erol Bekir, before Phillips made a superb save from a ferocious close range shot by Walter Ortega. Substitute David Pipe, on the pitch in place of Jacobson, then raced down the right and crossed to Duffy, but the striker sidefooted his effort wide of the post. Phillips was called into action again as play switched to the other end, and made a fine close range stop from Loftus. Steve Elliott was next to try his luck for Rovers, heading narrowly wide from Campbell's left wing corner. Loftus should have equalised for the home side, but headed just over following a cross from the left, and Henrik Ewald tested the keeper from distance, but Phillips saved comfortably. Ken Hansson anjd Ewald hit efforts over the bar in the closing minutes, but Rovers impressive back line did well in the heat and seemed determined to keep a clean sheet. Rovers: Steve Phillips, Aaron Lescott, Danny Coles, Steve Elliott, Joe Jacobs,on (David Pipe, 50) Chris Lines (Ryan Green, 80), Stuart Campbell, Craig Disley, Jeff Hughes, Rickie Lambert, Darryl Duffy. Substitutes: Mike Green, Ryan Green, Tom Parrinello, Byron Anthony, David Pipe, James Fraser, Sean Rigg, Andy Williams, Craig Hinton Limhamn Bunkeflo 07: Ola Svensson, Marco Belo Da Silva, Anders Ekelund, Erol Bekir, Daniel Svensson, Daniel Sliper, Magnus Carlsson, Patrick Svensson, Jens Nordstrom, Rickard Henriksson, Marcelo Sarvas Substitutes: Patrick Eklund, Walter Ortega, Darko Marasovic, Gazmend Xhemajli, Almir Buhic, Akli Jasim, Ylli Shabani, Salif Jonsson, Ken Hansson, Chris Loftus, Marcus Nilsson, Robert Dwiega, Henrik Ewald, Fredrik Blad, Robin Olsen.
