KIDDERMINSTER HARS 0-0 BRISTOL ROVERS
ATTENDANCE: 600
BRISTOL ROVERS: Shaun Marshall (Scott Shearer 68), Ali Gibb (Jose Vitor Vierra 85), Craig Hinton, John Anderson (Jon Bass 60), Robbie Ryan (Chris Carruthers 46), Steve Elliott, Craig Disley (Ryan Williams 46), Matt Somner (Aaron Lescott 46), Stuart Campbell, Jefferson Louis (Junior Agogo 46), Jamie Forrester (Richard Walker 46)
Rovers and Kidderminster Harriers played out an entertaining scoreless draw in a pre-season friendly at Aggborough Stadium this afternoon.
Both sides had chances to break the deadlock throughout the 90 minutes, but a combination of missed opportunities and good goalkeeping ensured it was the two defences that came out on top.
Robbie Ryan needed to be alert early on as he slid in to clear a dangerous low cross, before at the other end it needed a timely tackle from a Kidderminster defender to block a Craig Disley shot.
Jefferson Louis flicked a ball forward into the path of Jamie Forrester who saw his superb low shot well saved by John Danby, and then Matt Somner went close with an effort that crept just over the crossbar.
Shaun Marshall made a decent save as he palmed over from a Steve Burton drive, and then Steve Elliott was denied for Rovers after his low shot was blocked.
Rovers came forward again with Forrester combining well with Ali Gibb before a cross to Louis saw a header go just wide, and then another superb delivery from Gibb to Louis saw a right-footed drive well saved by Danby.
The last chance of the first half fell to Kidderminster, as a 25-yard effort from Lee Thompson was brilliantly saved by Marshall as he got down low to push the ball around his post.
Marshall was called into action early on in the second half as he got down well to make a good stop from a curling Gareth Sheldon free-kick, and then the lively Ryan Williams combined with Junior Agogo only for the striker's effort on goal to be blocked.
Agogo tried a first-time shot on the turn after a long ball forward from the back only to see his effort screw well wide, and then Richard Walker's attempted pass to Aaron Lescott was cut out at the last minute with the midfielder almost through one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
More pressure from Rovers saw a Chris Carruthers cross pick out Ali Gibb at the back post with the resulting shot blocked by Daryl Burgess, and then from the Williams corner that followed, an powerful header from Elliott needed a brilliant one-handed save from Danby.
Another Williams corner saw an effort from Jon Bass blocked, before the last clear-cut opportunity of the game fell the way of Stuart Campbell, as first of all Walker saw his shot blocked after neat work from Agogo, with Campbell then blasting wide from the rebound.
Over the course of the 90 minutes Rovers edged proceedings by some distance, but couldn't find the finishing touch that would have wrapped up a deserved victory.
