After almost giving up on getting tickets for Brentford a work colleague of Charlie''s (Ray) turned out to be a Bees season ticket holder and came up trumps with a couple. She was down in London working and I travelled down by train(s): all on time and comfy. Charlie had also booked us into a swanky hotel for the night so all was set.
Before the match we met up with Saint Ray and a couple of his mates for a bite and drink in The Pilot then it was off to the match - an easy 15 minutes stroll away. A snap with the mascot outside and then on in.
What an excellent little (for the Premier League) stadium this is. So neat and clean and spruced. Very very impressive. The seating is great and the view perfect giving you the feel of being really close to the action. And being ''the right'' size and hence full the atmosphere is excellent. Add to that a brilliant light and music show pre kick off and it makes for the sort of place you could imagine wanting a season ticket if you lived close enough.
The match itself wasn''t great with Brentford being largely out-classed and out-fought so the 1-1 score line was pretty much flattering for the home side who had a man advantage after 10 minutes.
After the match is was a slow walk back to The Pilot for a few beers with Ray then Charlie and me back to the hotel for a ''well earned'' kip. A brilliant night and the old team is back on the road again.
