Completed the Premier League ground after visiting Portman Road. Left home at 11:00 and got the tube to Liverpool Street. Got the 12:08 train to Ipswich arriving at the ground at about 13:45. The game itself was a one sided affair with a poor performance from Bristol Rovers. Phillips opened the scoring for Ipswich after about 20 mins with a long range effort and they doubled their lead 5 mins later. The third and final goal of the game came about 5 mins before HT and looked miles offside. The second half was a fairly uneventful affair with Ipswich missing a penalty about 10-15 mins into the second half. Got the 17:11 train back to Liverpool Street before getting the tube home, getting back at about 19:15.

Really liked the ground. Very tidy, very enclosed, but not a small ground. Was behind the goal, high up, in the Alf Ramsey Stand, literally Row Z !! Seat gave a good view, so high you could see spaces opening up down on the pitch. Ipswich used them much better than Bristol Rovers did, even though Ipswich left out several key players. The hapless Kalvin Phillips scored a good goal to open the scoring, and two further goals came along quickly though one looked suspiciously like offside. Game over by half-time at 3-0. Bristol Rovers never looked like scoring. Ipswich soft-pedalled the 2nd half, but still could have added a couple more goals, even missing a penalty.
Decent attendance on a freezing cold January day. My ticket, as an over-65, cost me £5 !!
After the match, I saw a superb statue of Bobby Robson. Good likeness, nice suit! Also saw an unusual, and impressive one of 80s hero Beattie shown leaping for a header. Another good statue. Didn''t manage to see the one of Alf Ramsey unfortunately.
