Comments :
An eight and a half hour round trip to complete the national league south for 2025/26. As a neutral my instinct was to swing towards western purely from the white kit and they started on the front foot deservedly talking the lead however it was obvious early on that their interim manager was keen to moan at the 4th official questioning several decisions. Totten equalised when the centre back(15) near the halfway line screamed loud enough to be heard in Southampton clutching his face and then lay prone, if any contact had been made it seemed minimal and his reaction seemed to me to be geared up to try and draw a booking rather than any serious injury but whilst he lay on the floor the ball broke kindly for Totten and Bournemouth loanee? Clarke had a clear run on goal and slotted home. Western weren''t impressed and their manager was booked for his protests. Second half a challenge on Clarke resulted in a penalty slotted home by Rendell and a red card for a second booking to boot and added a third through Clarke with a powerful low angled drive. Despite being a man down western still played an attractive attacking brand of football when they weren''t calling for fouls and the dark arts hitting the bar and forcing several saves. In summary i think Western are a good footballing side and probably would have won the game if they concentrated on the football rather than coercing decisions from the officials
