Match no. 359. Peter Taylor had a tremendous game for Palace with two goals and one assist. Nicky Chatterton scored for Palace on 37 minutes and Taylor made it 2-0 (40). Chelsea levelled it with goals from Ray Wilkins (62) and Steve Wicks (71). Taylor notched the winner 5 minutes later. Third Division Palace had already knocked out Leeds United and would go on to beat Sunderland in the quarter-finals before losing to Southampton in the semi-finals, back at Stamford Bridge.
