Comments :
In terms of quality, one of the worst games of the season seen so far. Two teams who either were overcome with nerves given how important a win for either side would be or simply displayed their true abilities which is why they are both at the foot of the Conference. Hayes won through a 25 yard effort from Captain Peter Holmes but should have been ahead earlier when the giant Jefferson Louis allowed a low cross to pass through his legs a yard from the goal line. Lanre Oyebanjo stood out for Histon. Fast, direct and determined when carrying the ball forward to give momentum to his side and building attacking options. Charlie Wassmer will go on to beter things from H&Y. He cleared up everything that came his way and is a solid 19 year old centre back. Yao and I sat with screaming, excitable children a row behind us. I fear Histon are doomed this season but feel H&Y will survive. - I clocked up my 100th ground yesterday at Histon. It has taken me 38 years to get to this landmark from my first game at The Goldstone Ground in 1973 to my 340th yesterday. A long journey through all four divisions, non-league, overseas and internationals. In that time I''ve taken in both the home and away El Classico''s, QPR''s glory and far from glory days, 6 FA Cup Finals, 1 League Cup Final and stood in crowds as few as 20 or so at County football level. Now that I no longer play football (I hung up my boots at 47), I expect to get through my next century of grounds a little faster!
