The gate money from this game went to the Ibrox Disaster Fund. The original game played on 5th April saw 25 spectators killed when the back of the West Tribune Stand collapsed after 51 minutes of the game following heavy rain the night before. The game was allowed to finish so that the roads were kept clear for ambulances to use. Both the FA and the Scottish FA subsequently declared the game void.
