This match was abandoned after 50 minutes because of a floodlight failure. At that point Tranmere were leading 2-1 (Aldridge 2: Ling). The rearranged fixture took place on Tuesday 23rd February 1993. Swindon won 2-0.
An aldridge brace in an impressive performance against a main title rival looked set to earn us the points. Swindon had pulled one back when on fifty minutes the floodlights went out and after a lengthy delay was abandoned of course we went on to lose the rearranged game. Ironically Swindon and the FA had robbed us of promotion in 1990, we had lost to Notts county in the playoff final that year whilst Swindon were demoted two divisions for breaching rules so for 19 days in the close season we had been promoted unfortunatley on appeal the FA over ruled the football league and only demoted them one division thus our elavated status was revoked. This sorry state of affairs left many bitter and Swindon would often be referred as Swindle town by many Rovers fans for years to come
