Decided last night to see a game. Eve dropped me at Hayes station for the 10.08 to London Bridge, 148 bus to Liverpool St for the 11.02 to Chelmsford. Walked into town, had a late breakfast and tea in Wetherspoons, Ivory Peg. Then up to bus station for 56 bus to Melbourne ground, a chap on the bus telling me where to get off. I try to remember the route for the journey back in the dark. Walked to ground with a guy from the bus and chatted about game. My bag was searched at the turnstile and my water bottle had to have its top taken off! £9 entry, £2.50 prog, £1 golden goal ticket (1st goal time), and £1 half time draw ticket. Inside met a couple of guys who pointed out my bottle had lost its top, and I explained the circumstances. He said 'you can buy a bottle of coke in the ground with its top on!' From that we chatted for 20 mins or so, during which I mentioned concern at remembering the way back to the station. Mark said he'd drop me off after the game, and to meet by the main exit. Thanked him and Barry for their company, (they had seats in the main stand), and I went to the other side of this athletics track stadium, with running track separating us from the pitch. Found seat at back of 4 row seating area, and read prog to kill time as I'd arrived at 1.00 for 3.00 ko. The match was entertaining, with Chelmsford scoring after 35 mins. Macc came out in the second half with greater determination, and soon equalised, and despite further attempts by each side thats how it stayed. I met Mark and Barry as arranged, and was delivered to the station by 17.10 for the 17.21 to Liverpool St. Changed at Stratford for Jubilee to Westminster, Circle to Vic and 18.25 to B Sth, 119 bus and home by 19.05.
