Comments :
Copa de Rey Semi-Final 2nd leg. First leg had finished 1-1, so Barca were favourites to progress. Atmosphere very hostile towards Real, the crowd even whistling their pre-match warm-up. Ivan Zamorano, Michel, Hierro, Martin Vazquez, Luis Enrique and Robert Prosinecki playing for Real. Stoichkov, Laudrup, Koeman, Nadal, Ferrer, Zubizarreta, Beguiristain playing for Barcelona, with Busquets Senior on the bench, and Johann Cruyff as coach. Terrific stadium. I stood on terracing behind the goal, but even there each spectator had his own designated and numbered square of space to stand in! Not the greatest game but an experience nevertheless. Real were worthy winners courtesy of Koemann hitting a penalty against the crossbar... Three days later Real had only to beat Tenerife to win La Liga. They lost and Barcelona''s win the same day handed Barca the La Liga title. This was the 2nd successive season that Real had lost the title on the last day by losing to Tenerife. This would explain the Barca crowd chanting Te-ne-ri-fe at various points during the match.
