Number 29. Weather was good today. Chesterfield is very local for us so we decided to go on the train. Alec boarded at Nottingham and i was due to meet him at Alfreton. I was running really late and only just made the train. Alec had researched a good pub for lunch. We had a nice lunch and a pint. In the pub we found out again about the power of the 92 t shirt that we wear. An MK Dons supported and his son were also having lunch in there and they were chatting to us about the game and the season ahead. We had a walk through the centre and then down to the ground which took us about 30 mins. Whilst doing our usual lap of the ground a group of really friendly local fans were asking us about the 92. We were chatting all the way around the ground. Whilst chatting to them another ground hopper shouted over to us but didnt get a chance to talk to him. Once inside the ground and after chatting to another Chesterfield fan we found our seats which were about half way up. Chesterfield started brightly and scored very early on. 1-0 was the half time score. During the break we met a bloke called Mark Watterson. He is a Chesterfield fan who has completed the 92 and many many more. His son Ryan is also doing the same and i was aware of his website. The second half was not so good and the MK Dons got the equaliser that they had been threatening. Full time 1-1. After the match we popped in to the large Tesco for supplies and then walked back to the station. Just as we awaited to board the train a group of St Patrick Day revellers were disembarking only one slightly drunk girl missed her step and fell in to the back of Alec. A surprised Alec almost clocked her one!
Today was a good day out where we met some of the friendliest people to date. Who'd have thought that at Chesterfield!
Drove from Manchester and parked in Donkey Derby car park. Visited Wanted Inn, Sparrowpit on way home.
