Headed to Scotland for a break with familly. i had tried to find potential fixtures but only with partial success and on the day i wasn''t aware of this fixture and had narrowed my choice to either Brora v Clyde or Buckie Thistle v Montrose with the former looking to be my selection. My start base was Nairn but as i reached Inverness i pulled over to go on the Caley website after all with Ex Tranmere players David Raven and Carl Tremarco in their ranks i couldn''t overlook any potential fixture. It was a day of suprises as i called into the stadium i discovered they had just signed Owain Fon Williams who had been Tranmeres No1 goalkeeper for the past three seasons and i talked briefly to both Owain and Dave before heading back to Nairn for the match. Nairns hospitality and friendlyness couldn''t be faulted with several people affiliated with the club coming to chat no doubt curious to see Tranmere colours in the ground. One chap i think the club historian(apologies for forgetting his name) introduced me to one of the directors who in turn bought me a beer. Caley brought the Scottish cup to the ground and at half time i had my picture taken with the trophy. Owain played for 75minutes keeping a clean sheet with David Raven having a good game. Carl Tremarco didn''t feature having picked up a knock but surely wasn''t in for a quiet time having recently becoming a dad. The star of the game however was the Nairn keeper Antell who produced several eyecatching saves. I can only wish both teams well for the forthcoming season. At the final whistle Owains familly came up for a chat which was nice especially as they live close to my Mum! All in all the day was very rewarding.
