Comments :
With Tranmere not having a game today i decided to add to my ground tally in Scotland and had narrowed the choice to two, the other match being Motherwell v Inverness. The Saints game was always my first choice and i was looking forward in part to the contrast in colours with Hibs striking Green strip(as it turned out they wore their purple away strip!). I had seen a match against Airdrie at Love street saints former ground and indeed had seen the sorry state of the three quarter demolished ground there a year or two before which always feels like a crime. Initally i was going to drive but made the late decision Friday evening to get the train. On taking the Gouroch train out of Glasgow i chatted with a Morton fan and was pleased to hear he had no allegences with either of the old firm which shows that football doesn't have to revolve around media hype and big money, the disbelief i get when i tell people i have no allegence to 'Merseysides giants' gets tired real quick. As for the match i had to pick sides, i thought it would be Hibs but got a great seat in the main stand near halfway and found all the fans around me friendly and approachable if somewhat dumbfounded at my trip and my Tranmere shirt! Saints started really well and took a deserved lead through KELLY but Hibs levelled two minutes later (CUMMINGS) although i didn't have the best view it appeared to be offside, if this was the case it was probably the catalist for change, poor defending led to Hibs taking the lead and a great strike from the edge of the box made it 1-3. From then on Hibs dominated hitting the woodwork before halftime. The second half wasn't quite as good Saints dropped deep to try and stem the flow and created little although deserved a second from a mazy dribble and shot that hit the woodwork by SHANKLAND before a soft penalty made it 1-4 at the whistle KEATINGS bagging a hatrick and in truth it could have been more but i had to feel sorry for Saints and that onside decision. On returning to Glasgow i had a shock when i found my train home had been cancelled luckily i was directed to an alternative one that departed within 2minutes of being told about it, hate to think what would have happened had i missed it, as it was i was home for 22.30 and match of the day.
