I set off for Oxford at 1406 in the van and arrived at 1706. There had been no traffic hold ups so it gave me a long time to wait before kick off which was to be 1945.
I got my ticket from the box office with no hassle which was good.
Luckily the parking was free and also there was a complex including a Vue cinema, bowling alley, sports bar, Gala bingo and one or two eating places.
After taking a few photographs of what appeared to be a very open ground with only three stands I ventured into the Sports Complex.
I opted for an all you can eat Chinese and went in at 1800.
Oh my word I was in for a treat. This is possibly the best meal I have ever had!!!
I managed five courses of absolutely everything on the menu. The best was the chicken satay and of course the shredded duck on pancakes with spring onion and cucumber. I finished off with ice cream topped with fizzy Coke bottles. After that it seemed difficult to move. Luckily the ground was only 200 yards away!
I entered the football ground at 1930 and found my seat. The end I was in was fairly packed. It was obvious from the start that Oxford were the better team and they scored half way through the first half. I was treated to an annoying commentary by a loudmouths supporter behind me.
The second half was excellent for Oxford as they scored three times. The loudmouth took great delight in slagging off their goalkeeper even though he was actually quite good. I left as the last goal was scored to make a quick exit from the car park as otherwise I would be held up.
On the way home I was flashed by a police car. I was only doing 73 miles per hour.
Later a car sped past me at about 100 miles an hour and the police car pulled it in.
I was home at 0030 desperate for a drink of water and I quaffed two pints.
Asleep by 0040.
