Strange but entertaining night. Arrived an hour before kick off to find the gates still locked and no programme sellers in evidence so walked around to the shop were i was informed the away team and fans where yet to arrive. I appreciate the short space of time available to print a full programme for the replay but the 8 page edition with a cover price of £2 would have been exceptionally poor value for money fortunatley they had had a rethink and were selling them for a pound. On taking my seat the tannoy announced the kick off would be delayed 15minutes to 8 o''clock so another discrepancy from the programme cover which had been fully read well before then. Wrexham started brightly camping inside stamfords half for 20 minutrs but poor final balls and finishing would prove costly. The away side nearly scored against the run of play but a fine low drive from 20 yards fizzed narrowly wide of the post, they did however take the lead on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot after a clumsy foul. This was their only shot on target first half. Predictably Stamford set their stall out to defend second half and the quality for the next half hour was poor and the natives were getting restless. With ten minutes left Stamford added a second from a corner which fell kindly and was hooked home. One elderley chap pipped up stating he could have put his £5 entrance fee on his electric meter! Wrexhams pressure eventually told as they pulled one back with three minutes on the clock, the pressure increased and Wrexham nearly equalised hitting the post and having a mad scramble but the visiting keeper was inspired having already made a string of impressive saves Four minutes was added but it only took two of them to draw level with a fine25 yard drive drilled through a crowded box. Extra time was also full value, the impetus was with the dragons but they conceaded a free kick outside the box which was bent home for a surprise third. Both sides had chances but the visitors missed two gilt edged chances to put the game to bed however they held out for a famous win taking them to the next stage for the first time in their history and an away tie with Hartlepool
