TOTAL VISITS 3 TRANMERE VISITS PLD 2 W2 D0 L0 GF5 GA1. Where to start! The main concern in the buildup was the weather with predicted temperatures of -4 in the days leading up to the game but whilst games at Macclesfeild and Borehamwood bit the dust we where to get the all clear. I had taken two days off but had to relinquish my ''recovery day'' so as to accomodate a work briefing however that proved not to be my biggest problem. With games coming thick and fast i new i had booked two away coach trips at the same time and as it turned out wrongly thought it was the two consecutive Tuesday games at Forest green and Gateshead but it turned out to have been Braintree, luckily i got my head or should that be ''heed'' round it when i got up so had a few hours to try and make alternative arrangements. After frantic calls i managed to get on a mini bus carryng most of the media team from local radio, this wasn''t very comfortable as their where just ten seats fitted mostly singles and apparently no heater but i didn''t care as i was just glad to be going. As you can imagine it was a cold cold night with a freezing breeze but rovers warmed us up with an excellent opener after just three minutes with loanee Ben Tollitt striding through the middle of the park dribbling around four defenders before finding the bottom corner, after last years 4-1 win things were looking good. This however was the standout moment of the game with the remainder of the half being average and even with several half chances for both teams. The second half found rovers sitting very deep inviting pressure and offered little going forward with both the starting strikers being subbed, new signing Wallace made his latest debut and seemed to get a positive review however i found the second half very nervy and whilst chuffed to get the three points it felt like Gateshead deserved at least a point. I had the chance to return on the main coach but this didn''t feel right after the mini bus lads had saved my bacon so i waited the extra half hour after the game for them to do their jobs before we set off and then quickly stopped at the first services so they could warm up with coffees and McDonalds but the remainder of the journey proved to be a nightmare with the A1 being closed and several diversions in place after ending up in darlington at one point we eventually gave up and headed across country picking up the M6 and getting back to Tranmere at 3am, after defrosting my car and arriving home half an hour later i was in bed for 03.40 with my alarm set to go off at 06.30 i managed a few hours kip.
