Colin and I boarded the coach and left Llantwit Major at 12.40pm en route to Old Trafford Manchester to see the NPower Championship Champions, the Mighty Bluebirds, take on the Premier League Champions, Manchester United. We broke our journey at the Hylton Park Services arriving at 4.35pm and departing at 5.05pm, due to the volume of traffic we arrived at the ground at 7.30pm, 15 minutes before kick off. Still we had time for a beer (£3.80 for a half pint of Singha and £3.60 for a can of Boddingtons bitter for Colin). An early Van Persie goal put the mockers on keeping it tight and then we allowed Ashley Young to much space to cut in from the left to unleash a right foot shot into the bottom corner of the net across a despairing dive from Marshall in the second half. After the game we then suffered a nightmare trip back to South Wales through numerous roadworks, partial closure of the M6 which meant getting home at quarter to four in the morning. 16 hours on the go, no points and to cap it all, with all the extra add ons Old Trafford wasn't as magical as I thought it would be. The Emirates Stadium at Arsenal still remains the best ground visited in the Premiership.
