A magical, magical night (if you were an Evertonian) !
Early April and Everton & Spurs were first and third respectively (Man U were 2nd but no one really thought they were serious contenders).
Andy Gray volleys home early on - second half Trevor Steven dispossesses Mark Bowen near the half way line and rounds Ray Clemence to make it 2-0 - Oh Glory Be To The Father !!
Graham Roberts whacks a humdinger in from about 30 yards to make it 2-1 and the pressure is on but Neville Southall pulls off one of the best reflex saves I've ever seen from Mark Falco to keep the Blues' ahead.
Result 2-1 to The Toffees - with 11 games to go the Blues would not drop another point until they had the title clinched - they could even afford to field virtual reserve sides for their last three games (beating Liverpool in one of them).
After the game this guy flashes the biggest knife I've ever seen from out of his coat a me - I don't know why although I may have been singing "Everton, Everton, Everton" a bit too enthusistically for him - I belt it for the safety of the Police (I was only 16 !!)

Match no. 591. A crucial win for Everton as they closed in on winning the Championship with goals from Trevor Steven and Andy Gray plus a quite outstanding save by Neville Southall from a Mark Falco close-range header. Graham Roberts scored for Spurs.
