Very good experience in the West Stand (Lower). Caught the F1 Football buses and was back home for midnight.

My first evening match as part of the ''92 tour''. We (travelling with Paulo to his first ever match) got the early train from Richmond to reading & then found the ''Football special'' bus to the ground, as recommended by The Football Grounds Guide. Arrived in good time and decamped to the local MacDonald''s just before the heavens opened.
The stadium itself is well sign posted, bright, spacious and had an immaculate playing surface. I was hoping this League Cup 1st Round math would not go into extra time as we had a late train to catch back to Richmond. Reading led for most of the match courtesy of a beautifully chipped goal midway through the first half before a flurry of goals in the last five minutes (including time added on) to the home side & final score of 3-1, leaving them safe passage to the second round. However, Newport had the better of the early exchanges, supported by a contingent of travelling & noisy fans.
The staff in the ground were very friendly & helpful as indeed were the bus drivers. And we did get that train home, arriving in Richmond at 11:45pm.
89 grounds to go !
