Newly promoted Shrewsbury Town played well and the scoreline flattered Leeds United. Neil Warnock''s newly rebuilt squad have yet to gel together and with a little more rub of the green Shrewsbury could have gone into the break with a couple of goals in the bag. As it turned out Becchio and Varney put the home side into a 2-0 half time lead and Byrom and McCormack (from the spot) doubled the advantage in the second half. Shrewsbury should have a good season in League One on this evidence.
