Of the 17 players who represented the Football League only one, Ossie Ardiles, came from outside the British Isles while the Rest of the World team contained only one British player, Gary Lineker. Maradona, who played the whole game for RotW, was booed throughout, his hand of God goal for Argentina v England having been perpetrated only 1 year earlier.
