Comments :
Day two started slowly having planned to use our spare time visiting grounds at U.C.D and Cabinteely we new the cheapest and best transport option was to buy a 24hr visitor leap card for 10 euro each however buying it proved far from easy! We were told most newsagents and garages sold them but garage one couldn''t find the right card/tariff, garage two didn''t sell them and garage three only did top ups, we''d walked a mile and wasted an hour before paying six euro for two tickets back into the city centre. Once there we went to a known source in a tourist information centre who belatedly informed us we could only buy these tickets in two places although the website suggests you can buy online. The trip to U.C.D took around 30minutes from the centre followed by a seven minute walk, as expected the ground was closed but you did get several vantage points from outside to take pictures. U.C.D stands for University City Dublin and it stands within campus grounds in a bowl but only has one stand from there it was onto cabinteely or so we thought... We researched the address and got the postcode off the contact us section of the website and had another thirty minute bus journey but when we found the site something wasn''t right, the outbuilding with the club badge on was like a scout hut with the upcoming fixtures on the entrance wall but the fields where all open with no stands or enclosures and only held rugby posts, luckily there were people there who told us they play at a rugby ground two and a half miles away! In for a penny in for a pound and despite it being harder to suss the bus journey we got quite close before having to walk the last 15 minutes. We confirmed we where at the right place and the ground was open however once again it was very disappointing with nothing ''Cabinteely'' on site, the pitch was pristeen but there where no stands and no seats just the rugby clubhouse at one end and a row of about four railway sleepers in depth along one side. Time to head to the Aviva and another walk to the Dart train line. Despite our exertions we still arrived in plenty of time, i''d done a ground tour last year but this would be my first match however one last problem awaited us in that they didn''t allow back packs into the ground so would have to use a bag collection service in a nearby hotel at 5 euro per bag blimey didn''t expect that you can park at most grounds for less! Heading back to the ferry afterwards we didn''t have a choice. By this time both our legs were acheing, the ground wasn''t full and we where sat behind the goal on the lower tier of the south stand, despite an official away section their where American fans dotted all around the stadium and the half dozen in front of us would prove very annoying, standing for most of the game and chanting in front of the home supporters so we moved over towards the corner flag for the second half. The game was billed as John O''Shea''s last game but the first half offered little entertainment with chances few and far between, the USA taking the lead in first half added time. The second half was better and Ireland equalised from a corner before winning the game in the last minute. After the game I had to source a proper ticket as the late addition of this game meant we had to use the print at home option (although ticketmaster still charges us 3euro 95 per ticket service charge on top of the ticket price). After the game we let the crowds disappear before heading back into the city for food and the early 02.15 am sailing back to Holyhead
