Comments :
With Tranmere playing the night before I took the opportunity to cross another ground off my list. It made sense to travel up on the Chester supporters coach saving a few quid and taking the hassle out of driving at a cost of £30. The coach stopped at Wetherby services en route and we arrived with time to spare, although the weather was overcast and drizzly the nearby chippy helped warm the spirits. The outside of the ground isn''t very photogenic but inside it''s quite tidy, £12 gained entry but it cost another £2 to gain access to the seated section with a raffle type ticket in exchange. Chester started brightly taking the lead through a deflected third minute free kick in which the offender must count himself very lucky to only see yellow as the last man with the striker clean through on the keeper on the edge of the D. The first half turned on it''s head with a glancing header from a cross finding the top corner to level before great work from the left winger saw the Chester keeper beaten at his near post after a good run. Lee Clark the Blyth manager was very animated and the Chester left back got dogs abuse from the home fans for most of the game having been deemed to have gone to ground too easily when in the Blyth box. At the end of the first half it was 2-1 to the hosts in a very entertaining 45minutes. Whilst the quality dipped slightly in the second half their was still plenty of chances for both sides with Blyth hitting the woodwork twice before Chester equalised when a low cross from the right was poked home at the near post. Their was still time for one of the misses of the season as a Chester player found himself one on one with the keeper, he rounded him with ease and with the net gaping crashed his shot of the foot of the post and away to safety.
