Comments :
Very cold. Thick frost at home and temperature below zero. Train from Crewe delayed but made the connection in Wolverhampton by 1 minute thanks to a sprint over the bridge between platforms. Then easy and sunny changing at Oxford and 10 minutes walk to the ground. It is a very swish set up and perfectly sized for this level of football. Beautiful new (and interesting - from the front it looks like a huge dustbin on its side) main stand with a lovely glass-fronted bar area with open balconies on both ends looking out across the 3G artificial pitch. Neat modern covered ''shed'' terraces at both ends and a small ''shed'' stand on the far side. And everything spotlessly clean and smart. The game was pretty awful. Very scrappy and little skill on show. Tonbridge are fighting relegation and seemed far more intent on doing that than Slough did on fighting for promotion. That it ended 0-0 was no surprise at all. AND i was sat next to Mister Boring who insisted on chatting about rubbish the whole way through. Leaving was blessed release and all seemed well. I jumped an earlier than planned train to make sure my connection was good. But that one was a little late the one after worse as there was no driver available and we left 20 minutes late. By that time somebody had been hit by a train at Smethwick meaning everything in the midlands was disrupted and all trains slow. So I missed the next connection at Stafford and the train after was delayed by over half an hour. But I got back to Crewe eventually to find the car frozen solid. No big deal. Home soon after ten. Adventure.
