Comments :
It took 4 games and 420 plus minutes to resolve this FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round Tie. A certain 18 year-old lad named Andy Townsend (the future Southampton, Norwich City, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Republic of Ireland International player) scored the winner in the very last minute. An interesting fact from the tie: until Welling scored that winning goal they hadn’t held the lead at any point in any of the 4 matches. The FA Cup, the World’s finest knockout competition in my opinion, at its exciting best.
