Wycombe won on pens

Match no. 1387. Wycombe won 5-3 on penalties. Stevenage were extremely unlucky to lose this match. 1-0 down at half-time they quickly equalised and dominated the second-half, missing several chances before finally taking the lead with 13 minutes to go. At 90 minutes a highly dubious 7 minutes added time was signalled, most if not all of which must have been due to Wycombe''s blatant timewasting that was apparent the whole time the score was 1-1. Consequently, there was an air of inevitability that Wycombe would take advantage of the referee''s largesse and score a totally undeserved equaliser and, in the fourth added minute, they duly did. Borough were then unable to repeat the penalty shoot-out heroics v Luton and one spot-kick that flew over the bar proved decisive. This was a cup-tie that Wycombe absolutely did not deserve to win.
