Manager Jarvis made two changes from the side that drew at home on Saturday, bringing back skipper Paul Brett, after suspension, and starting Ben Hudell in place of Daryl Jones and Ollie Godwin. This turned out to be another excellent game with loads of goalmouth action at both ends. Burnham could easily have snatched an early goal when Ryan Bird fired in a shot that The Millers keeper Lunan could only parry, but the ball just ran unkindly for the Blues strikers and was cleared up field. For the home team Holloway delivered some telling crosses from the left, that had the Blues defence under some pressure, and Tuohy headed one of these just over the crossbar and from another Paul McCarthy was forced into a save from the same player. From the first corner of the match Burnham themselves went close to scoring again. Ryan Bird rose highest and headed the ball goalwards but saw the effort cleared close to the goal line. Aveley upped the tempo at the beginning of the second half and again Burnham had to defend in depth. A freekick on the left from Edgar struck the top of the crossbar, and Stanley created space to fire in a low shot which McCarthy did well to save. Burnham replied with some good attacking moves but the final ball let them down. The first goal came in the 57th minute, Burnham failed to cut out a ball down their right and MATT JOHNSON found himself in space to beat McCarthy. Burnham was level within five minutes, BEN HUDELL found himself with lots of room in centre field and from fully 30 yards fired in a shot which took a deflection to leave keeper Lunan stranded. On 68 minutes Burnham was convinced that they had taken the lead, a Hudell corner on the left was headed onto the underside of Millers crossbar and appeared to bounce down over the goal line, but their celebrations were short lived as the referee had decided otherwise. Hesitation in the Burnham defence cost them a second goal on 74 minutes, when SHERWIN STANLEY took advantage and put the home side 2-1 ahead. The game still flowed from end to end with Burnham now throwing more men forward in search of the equaliser, Dean Papali was put through after a good build up and had just Lunan to beat, but the Aveley keeper brought off a brilliant save to deny him. Then on 90 minutes the home team broke away to put the tie beyond the Blues, sub Wixon fired in a humdinger of a shot which McCarthy did exceptionally well to keep out. Unfortunately the ball ran loose to JUNIOR DADSON who had a simple task to tap in. Referee Mr Lee Venamore
