Having decided not to spend lots of money on a dead rubber game at Colchester i had a number of options. Realised too late in the day i could have got the ferry to Belfast for a NIFL game having picked my mate Wilf up from North Wales on Friday night. We had considered but ruled out South Shields and Dalbeattie star leaving a choice of my top three being here, Scarbourgh or Kettering. Set off at 7.30 am to allow time to look around the town and grab some lunch. Total admission was £21(two tickets, one half price) instead of £28 as Chippenham where taking part in non league day giving season ticket holders from league clubs half price admission. Spoke to a number of friendly fans including those running the shop. First half was relatively entertaining with the visitors surprisingly taking the lead through a penalty two minutes before the break. The standards dropped second half and Eastleigh looked comfortable before a back post header was adjudged to have hit the post and gone in although play continued for a few seconds before the ref decided it had crossed the line. Arrived home around 20.30pm. Wilf insisted i mention Wales getting a dramatic injury time equaliser in Croatia(maybe the third most important 1-1 result of the day behind Tranmere v Colchester and here. Also that he had jinxed his brothers bet advising him to put his money on an away win. Some websites wrongly credited the hosts as having taken the lead during the game.
